The City’s first Climate Action Plan (CAP) is being developed as a direct outcome of the baseline greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory and to support the climate legislation championed by our elected officials.
The goal of the CAP is to reduce GHG emissions community-wide while mitigating the effects of climate change.
After examining the main sources of greenhouse gases in our community, a large focus of the CAP is on Energy, Transportation and Solid Waste. The CAP will prioritize actions to reduce emissions and reach our emissions reduction goal of net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 and interim goal of 60% emissions reduction by 2035 compared to 2019 levels.
The timeline for the rollout of the CAP is under development.
