On March 13, 2024, the City of Miami Beach Commission approved a Stormwater Modeling and Master Plan Update conducted by the Public Works Department. This plan incorporated recent and ongoing studies to provide a comprehensive plan for improving the stormwater system across the city to account for 10-year 24-hour storms and sea level rise through the year 2070. Included in this plan are the city's innovative Neighborhood Improvement Projects (NIPs) that holistically enhance the quality of life in a neighborhood, additional stormwater pump stations, increasing the capacity of stormwater pipes, and 20 Critical Needs Projects set to commence by the year 2035.
